(Basseterre, 17th November, 2017) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Aviation is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Ellena Corrinne Skerritt as Honorary Consul of Poland to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Ellena Corrinne Skerritt, is a results-driven executive who has a successful career background in sales and marketing, and project management. She has more than fifteen years of hands-on experience in penetrating new markets and creating business opportunities for foreign direct investors in St. Kitts & Nevis and the wider Caribbean.
Ellena’s formal education and professional career began in Trinidad where she worked as a dynamic sales executive for a leading regional company. After relocating from Trinidad to St. Kitts in 2004, Ellena became involved in the leadership of key private development projects, combining her Sales and Marketing expertise with her new focus on investment promotion and Project Management.
As a volunteer, Ellena also successfully designed and managed the unprecedented and creative VIP Hosting Committee’s “Plan of Action” for the Local Organising Committee of the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup. Her most recent professional career accomplishment was as a member of the successful leadership team that developed the newly opened Park Hyatt Hotel – St. Kitts. Her regional experience and personal skills include offering advisory services to Investors in need of representation in pursuing business opportunities in the Caribbean. Ellena is a qualified Chartered Director, trained and certified by the ‘Caribbean Governance Training Institute’.
The Republic of Poland joined the European Union on 1 May, 2004, making them one of our partners under the European Union-African, Caribbean and Pacific (EU-ACP) Cotonou Agreement. Diplomatic relations were subsequently established with the Federation on 23 June, 2009. St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of Poland have since maintained good bilateral relations. Poland is a developed and democratic country, which maintains a high-income economy along with very high standards of living, life quality, safety, education and economic freedom. It has the eighth largest and one of the most dynamic economies in the European Union, simultaneously achieving a very high rank on the Human Development Index. Additionally, the Polish Stock Exchange in Warsaw is the largest and most important in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Ministry welcomes Ms. Skerritt’s appointment which will help to solidify and grow our collaboration and cooperation with the Republic of Poland.
